Words from The Stoop Kid

203rd Day.

Mondays are nobody’s best friend. It’s the start of work weeks and school days. It’s so ironic that the word “Monday” sounds like “mundane”.

… Moving right along.

Service Marketing is a fairly easy class. It’s an entire semester on ethics. Our assignment over the weekend was to write a story about our hero. Simple, right? Today, a Taiwanese kid decided to share his story with the class. It was pretty unexciting. His hero was his aunt. She motivated him to do better with his life. The part that really got me was, when she suggested that he move to another country, he did it. Let’s wrap our minds around this: The kid is already poor. His father works on the Chinese mainland. And the aunt suggests that he move to America where college is easier to get into & cheaper. That blew my mind. Could you imagine? Going overseas for FOUR years to get an education? Going to a place where they don’t speak the same language as you? I was shocked. Sometimes, we as Americans can be spoiled & unappreciative. By “sometimes”, I mean “often/everyday”. There are people in this world who are willing to leave it all behind just to come over here and TRY to succeed. We live here. It’s much easier for us to fail, go home, and try again the next day. Still, some of us (I’m speaking to myself now) are so afraid of failure that we never go for it. Let this man be a testament. Pick something you really want. REALLY WANT. Then go for it. And if you don’t get it. Re-evaluate. Then go for it again. I don’t know what the end of this week holds for me and my future. I pray good things. I WILL be devastated if I don’t get the position at Ole Miss. No doubt about it. Still, I know that the end of the world is coming but this? This is not it.

The Little Engine That Could

You probably haven't seen this cartoon or read this book since elementary school, but this message still holds true for all of us even years later.

"There's not a mountain that you can't climb
There's not a river you can't make it over
There's no tomorrow that you can't find if you try
I know you're gonna make it, Nothing can stop us now!"

The "I Think I Can" song is very inspirational and reminds us how we thought we could be anything when we were little. And here it is again to remind us that we still can. Tap into your inner child and be inspired by everything around you. Don't let little things and small setbacks get you down. If you think it, you can achieve it!

"In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure." -Bill Cosby

Terrence J

Today is a new day. A new opportunity to follow your dreams. Take advantage of this blessing. Take that leap. Whatever your dream is, you have to step towards it. The more steps you take the more the universe will conspire to assist you…

If you want to run a label, quit your job at the bank & intern at a label. If you want to be a doctor, apply to school today, etc. I wanted to act, so every week I go 2 acting school for 14 hours, study film & actors, read about projects, etc. Once I took steps, roles came.

A girl replied, how can I pay my bills if I quit my job 2 follow my dreams? - when following your dreams you will be temporarily inconvenienced. Tyler Perry was HOMELESS years before becoming a MILLIONAIRE. Only you can determine the amount of sacrifice your dreams are worth.

Before 106 I had a job making 30k but I wasn't happy. I quit. Moved to NY, worked small jobs to get by, & lived on @FredWhit FLOOR 8 MONTHS!

I just meet so many people that want to reach their goals & then complain when it sounds hard! Go watch Pursuit of Happiness

Everybody has a different story. U may have kids, mortgage, bills, etc. But God is powerful. There is always a way to follow your dreams - Terrence J 2011 via Twitter
